Art Teacher & Program Leader

Happimess is looking for a part-time enthusiastic art teacher who loves working with kids! This position will strive to ensure the continued success of our after-school program “I heART Club” and our seasonal camps. We are looking for someone who will be an active part of our program and help with picking up the children from Squamish Elementary and walking them back to Happimess. 

 

The key responsibilities for this position include:

• Creating and teaching arts and crafts.

• Demonstrating professionalism with student and parent interactions

• Walking the students from Squamish Elementary to Happimess and supervising students during activities.

• Tracking student attendance throughout the program

• Ensuring student safety at all times by monitoring student activities, enforcing health and safety rules, and understanding and implementing proactive disciplinary measures with inclusion as a guiding principle.

• Ensuring that all materials and spaces are cleaned and tidied after the students get picked up.

Hours of work: 

2:30pm -6:30pm Monday to Friday on school days(hours and days of work may vary)

8:30am - 3:30pm when school is not in session eg: Pro D Days, Summer Camps, March Break, etc.

Variable weekend hours for special events and private bookings.

 

The preferred candidate is patient, kind, and eager to help others, loves playing and art, is well presented; and has an aptitude for handling groups of students. Emergency First Aid training is an advantage but not a requirement.

 

The successful candidate has completed a grade 12 diploma and is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials, has a responsible adult certification or is willing to get one.
